Frequently asked questions

How is lifting divided into incisional and non-incisional methods?

Incisional methods include the facelift, mini facelift, forehead lift and minimal-incision net lifting, while non-incisional methods include thread lifting and device treatments such as Ultherapy PRIME, Thermage FLX, Oligio X and LDM Waterdrop Lifting. A facelift pulls up the SMAS layer and sutures or trims it. The device treatments use ultrasound or radiofrequency energy to help produce collagen.

How do the facelift and the mini facelift differ?

Both pull and fix the SMAS layer, but the mini facelift uses a smaller incision than the facelift. The facelift incision runs from the hairline around the earlobe to behind the ear, with surgery taking 2 to 3 hours and recovery of 1 to 2 weeks. The mini facelift has two methods, butterfly lift and MACS lift, with surgery taking 30 minutes to 2 hours and recovery of 1 to 7 days.

What types of thread lifting are there, and can I return to daily life right away?

JAYJUN Plastic Surgery explains MINT lift, QTL and Silhouette Soft thread lifting. All three take 30 minutes to 1 hour under sedation anesthesia, with same-day discharge, no stitch removal and daily life possible on the same day. Bleeding and bruising can occur, and recovery varies with each person's condition.

How do Ultherapy PRIME, Thermage FLX and Oligio X differ?

Ultherapy PRIME uses ultrasound, while Thermage FLX and Oligio X use radiofrequency energy, and all three are non-incisional lifting. Ultherapy PRIME checks the skin with ultrasound imaging and delivers heat to connective tissue, including the SMAS layer. All three are described as taking about 1 hour under topical anesthesia, with a return to daily life on the same day.

When is a forehead lift considered, and what methods are there?

It is considered for forehead lines, glabellar lines, drooping brows and eyelid sagging, using either the Endotine or suture-fixation method. The Endotine method takes 30 to 40 minutes with recovery of 2 to 3 weeks, and suture fixation takes 30 minutes to 1 hour with a return to daily life on the same day. Net lifting dissects the forehead through an incision of about 3 mm and fixes threads in a net pattern, taking 1 to 1.5 hours with recovery of 1 to 2 weeks.
