JAYJUN Ear Reshaping

The golden proportions of an ideal ear shape

JAYJUN Plastic Surgery provides individualized ear reshaping that considers the aesthetic golden proportions of the ears, facial balance, skin condition and surrounding muscles
together
, creating an ideal ear shape and balance between the ears and the face as a whole.

  • Ideal ear proportions

    Ear width-to-length ratio of 4:7

  • Ideal ear position

The top of the ear aligns with the outer side of the eye.
The bottom of the earlobe aligns with the tip of the nose.

  • 8°10°Antihelix

    Ideal ear angle

In profile, the antihelix is clearly visible,
and the ear tilts backward by about 8–10°.

CASE 01

Prominent ear correction

Ears that appear spread widely forward when viewed from the front

Prominent ears protrude noticeably when viewed from the front and are sometimes called “monkey ears” or “donkey ears”.
The outer ear is generally at least 2.5 cm away from the side of the head.

Surgical method

Prominent ear correction reshapes the ear cartilage through an incision or uses nonabsorbable sutures to create a Y-shaped antihelix.
The procedure considers harmony between ear and face shape and symmetry between both ears for a natural-looking result.

  1. Incision behind the ear

  2. Fold the ear cartilage backward and suture it internally.

  3. Close the skin with sutures.

CASE 02

Flat-lying ear correction

Ears that cannot be seen from the front

Flat-lying ears sit so close against the head that they seem absent from the front.
They can disrupt overall facial proportions and make the face appear comparatively larger.

Surgical method

Correction adjusts the distance between the ear and the head by unfolding an excessively folded antihelix and bringing it upright.
It can also create a more youthful appearance and make the face look smaller.

  1. Incision behind the ear

  2. Unfold and raise the antihelix.

  3. Close the skin with sutures.

CASE 03

Attached earlobe correction

An earlobe that extends downward in a straight line along the jawline

This ear shape has an earlobe attached in a straight downward line, appearing thin, pointed and pulled downward, making the whole ear look longer.
It can be congenital or develop as a complication after facelift surgery.

Surgical method

For small earlobes, your own fat is grafted to create the lobe. For larger earlobes, a triangular incision is made
where the earlobe meets the face
to reshape it, then the cheek skin is lifted and sutured.

  1. Make a triangular skin incision and separate the earlobe contour.

  2. Lift the skin to add volume.

  3. Finish by suturing the cheek-side skin.

CASE 04

Split earlobe repair

A split or torn earlobe

A split earlobe is a cleft in the earlobe caused by damage from the weight of earrings or by a congenital deformity.

Surgical method

A simple horizontal or vertical tear can be repaired with straightforward suturing.
If the split is severe or complex, nearby skin tissue is grafted before suturing.

  1. Assess the extent of the tear.

  2. Suture the torn area to complete the repair.
