As it has been revealed that skin aging starts surprisingly early—from the mid-20s—interest in fundamental elasticity management is growing. Because the skin is directly exposed to the external environment, it is influenced by various factors such as UV rays, irregular sleep, and stress. These stimuli rapidly deplete collagen within the skin and are considered major factors that accelerate the loss of elasticity and the formation of fine wrinkles.

Experts emphasize that skin regeneration ability declines noticeably, especially after the mid-20s. From this period, loss of volume and sagging of the skin gradually begin to appear. Accordingly, some point out that there are limits to simply using cosmetics or superficial care.

Recently, the ‘collagen booster’ treatment, which acts directly on the dermal layer of the skin, is attracting attention as a method of improving aging. This treatment promotes self-collagen production by injecting active ingredients deep into the skin. Representative treatments include ‘Sculptra’ and ‘Juvelook Volume’.

Sculptra is a PLLA ingredient-based product approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the Korean Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (MFDS). Its characteristic feature is that the volume naturally builds up over time, and the effect is maintained for a relatively long period of up to 2 years. Juvelook Volume is a product that adds hyaluronic acid to the PDLLA ingredient, and has recently been gaining attention among young people as it can be expected to not only improve elasticity but also improve skin texture and reduce pores.

Kang Minji (dermatologist), director of JAYJUN Dermatology Clinic, said, “Skin aging is a change that occurs as the structure of the dermal layer weakens, so it is difficult to improve it with only superficial care.” He added, “It is effective to restore elasticity to accurately identify each individual’s skin condition and then apply a procedure that induces collagen production.”

Director Kang also emphasized the need for sufficient consultation, saying, “Because collagen booster is a treatment whose effects are revealed gradually over time rather than immediate changes, it is important to understand the product characteristics and skin condition.”
