Today, plastic surgery is widely used as a means to increase an individual's confidence and improve appearance complexes.

Among them, eye plastic surgery has become a popular and common surgery for both men and women, and as more people undergo eye plastic surgery, the proportion of reoperations is increasing.

The main reasons why revision eye surgery is needed are insufficient satisfaction after the first surgery or cases where the lines are deformed over time. In addition, when the double eyelid line is loosened or asymmetry occurs, so-called sausage eyes where swelling appears for a long time due to poor ptosis correction, and functional discomfort where the eyes do not close well after surgery are also considered factors that make people consider reoperation. Sometimes, some people consider eye plastic surgery again according to appearance trends that have changed over time after the previous surgery.

Even if there is a strong desire to quickly correct the problem, the timing of eye reoperation must be carefully decided. There are exceptional cases where early correction is possible, but in general, it is recommended after 6 months when the swelling subsides and the tissue stabilizes. This is because only after a sufficient period of time can the actual line and adhesion state be objectively judged.

In addition, reoperation is more difficult than the first surgery, as the location of the existing incision line, muscle mass and fat mass, extent of adhesion, and hardness of scar tissue must be comprehensively checked. Therefore, the medical staff's abundant relevant clinical experience, anatomical knowledge, and understanding of the individual's facial proportions and characteristics are very important.

Kang Hyungjoo, director of JAYJUN Plastic Surgery, said, “Revision eye surgery does not simply correct the shape, but must comprehensively analyze and reflect the damage remaining after the previous surgery, the state of tissue adhesion, the presence of scars, etc. When determining the shape or height of the double eyelid, the degree of ptosis correction, etc., the previous surgical method must be considered, and it is important to find a method that can naturally improve according to the individual's characteristics. “It is important to make a customized surgical plan after sufficient consultation with an experienced medical staff.”
