In the summer, when summer vacation and a long vacation season await, the number of people visiting plastic surgery also increases significantly. This is often reflected in the desire to use the free time to get plastic surgery and return with a changed appearance and increased confidence.

However, many people are concerned that the hot and humid summer weather and strong ultraviolet rays in Korea may cause the plastic surgery area to become inflamed or not heal properly.

However, in reality, so-called summer plastic surgery does not particularly deteriorate more easily or have a slower recovery. On the contrary, in summer, metabolism becomes more active, improving blood circulation, which can help reduce swelling and aid wound healing.

Since the human body's own cells are active to resist damage and wounds caused by the external environment, blood circulation becomes active around the surgical area after plastic surgery, and the body's defense system is likely to function well. At this time, taking and using the medicines and antibiotic ointments prescribed by the hospital properly can greatly help in wound healing. Recently, with the popularization and distribution of air conditioners, it has become relatively easy to control indoor temperature, so there is less need to worry about the aftereffects and side effects of summer plastic surgery.

The important thing, regardless of the season, is to be careful not to let the wound come into contact with water or sweat until it heals after surgery. Even if water or sweat does come into contact, take care to lightly wipe the wound instead of rubbing it.

In addition, it is best to avoid excessive exercise and prolonged exposure to ultraviolet rays as much as possible. If you follow the visit schedule recommended by the hospital, check your progress properly, and take antibiotics, you can recover smoothly even in the summer.

Kang Hyungjoo, director of JAYJUN Plastic Surgery, said, "It is a common misconception that summer plastic surgery is prone to inflammation. When it comes to plastic surgery, it is advisable to consider the individual's health status and post-surgery recovery period more important than seasonal factors. Even in cool weather, if you do not follow the hospital's recommendations and precautions, the surgical area is prone to inflammation, and even in the hot summer, if you perform good follow-up care, faster recovery is possible than in other seasons. Therefore, regardless of the season, if you follow the precautions provided by the hospital and medical staff, keep the surgical area clean, and get enough rest, you don’t have to worry too much about side effects."
