As you age, wrinkles appear around the eyes, and as the elasticity of the eyelid muscles decreases, the muscles, skin, and fat can sag together, causing sagging eyelids.

Aging is an unavoidable problem for anyone, but when the eyelids droop, the overall impression can look sleepy and tired, and the droopy eyelids can cause a decrease in vision by blocking the field of vision, and other problems.

If sagging symptoms are severe, eyelashes may rub against the eyes, causing eye conditions, skin irritation and erosion around the eyelids, or inflammation. Additionally, the habit of raising one's eyebrows to open one's eyes can cause deepening of forehead wrinkles.

Sagging eyelids due to aging can be improved by applying surgical methods such as upper eyelid, lower eyelid, subbrow lift, and endoscopic forehead lift depending on the symptoms.

Upper eyelid surgery is a surgery that removes the sagging skin of the eyelids and then pulls the muscles that open the eyes. By removing the saggy skin, it creates a clear, well-defined eye appearance, and can be expected to prevent deterioration of vision and restore an unobstructed field of vision.

Subbrow lift surgery is a surgery that makes an incision in the lower part of the eyebrow and pulls and sutures the sagging part to expand the hidden field of view and improve the look of the eyes. Since it lifts the saggy eyelids themselves, it reduces the volume of thick skin and can even be expected to have a certain degree of ptosis correction effect. It has the advantage of being able to expect a natural effect without major changes in impression.

If the lower part of the eye is bulging or has severe wrinkles, you may want to consider lower eyelid surgery. Lower eyelid surgery is a method of making a fine incision under the sagging and wrinkled eyelids to reposition the bulging fat under the eyes, then pulling the saggy orbicularis oculi and skin and fixing them to the periosteum. This is a surgery that can make the face look brighter and younger without significantly changing the appearance.

Park Hyungjoon, director of JAYJUN Plastic Surgery, advised, "Middle-aged eye plastic surgery, such as upper eyelid surgery, lower eyelid surgery, and lower eyebrow lift, focuses on improving the natural look and functional problems, and the surgery should be performed after sufficient consultation with experienced medical staff and accurate analysis of the cause. If the surgery is performed in a way that is not suitable for the individual, it may create a fierce appearance, so it is a priority to carefully understand the ratio of existing facial features and the state of the tissue."

Middle-aged eye plastic surgery, such as upper eyelid surgery or lower eyebrow lift, is a common surgical method that involves excising unnecessary tissue and pulling and fixing the remaining part. Therefore, it is important to note that if excessive correction is performed, the eyes may not close well or the eyes may look fierce. Therefore, you can expect better results if you consult with a medical staff with extensive clinical experience based on your eye condition, find and apply the necessary surgery, and appropriately perform lower eyelid surgery or endoscopic forehead lift, if necessary.
