Hello!
Today, we explain how to address a common concern in middle age: sagging eyelids.
Sagging eyelids occur when the skin between the eyes and eyebrows droops.
Surgery that removes this skin can improve the sagging.
The main procedures include
upper blepharoplasty, which lifts through an incision along the double-eyelid crease,
and a sub-brow lift, which lifts through an incision higher up, near the eyebrow.
Many people first consider upper blepharoplasty when thinking about eyelid surgery in middle age,
and often come in specifically concerned about sagging at the outer corners.
A sub-brow lift often works better for sagging at the outer eye area,
so we recommend it for addressing this sagging.
Upper blepharoplasty essentially involves creating a double-eyelid crease,
so we recommend it for those who want a crease, have less sagging or have thin skin.
For people with thick skin, creating a crease through upper blepharoplasty can make the eyes look much stronger or more intense.
Skin thickness should therefore be considered when deciding on surgery.
Also, people who have had Botox in the forehead already have weakened forehead muscles and less ability to lift their brows.
In these cases, adding a sub-brow lift can provide better results.
It is therefore best to choose the appropriate approach through a consultation before surgery.
If sagging eyelids concern you, we encourage you to consider the points above when deciding which procedure to choose.
